The production of Veep was halted when the star of the show, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, needed time to recover from breast cancer treatment. The show returned for a final season in 2019 with only seven episodes, but each was packed to the brim with campaign antics as Selina Meyers goes toe-to-toe with her opponent, Jonah Ryan, to get back into the oval office. Showtime’s Golden Globe winner, The Affair, ends with season five. The network said the plan was for five seasons, right from the start. Though Joshua Jackson did not return for the final, instead Anna Paquin was cast as a new, short-lived key player. This was one shocking rollercoaster ride that used the main characters’ alternate viewpoints to add spins on the story that you would never expect, making this a refreshingly exhilarating experience.
