Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston

This is perhaps the most iconic photo of Muhammad Ali, and possibly even in all sporting history. This picture was taken at the heavyweight title rematch of May 25, 1965, where Liston was floored by Muhammad Ali. The champion roars victoriously at the stunned Liston, who does not seem to be in the proper state to feel the sting of Ali’s triumphant mocking. Following his win, Ali would keep the heavyweight title until his imprisonment in 1967 for becoming a conscientious objector.
