Leonardo Da Vinci was commissioned way back in 1502 by an Italian statesman to paint the priceless piece of art of the battle. In the 1550s, Giorgio Vasari was called in to destroy the piece of art by painting over it. He reportedly could not bring himself to carry out the task as hand, so they just built a wall in front of it.
