Jesse Tyler Ferguson is one of the favorites of the hit TV series Modern Family. In 2013 he and his partner, Justin Mikita, married. For their marriage celebration Ferguson and Mikita (who is also an actor and a producer), opted to go with a not-so-traditional yet wonderfully inspiring wedding-gift request; asking their guests not to buy them gifts but to donate instead to their marriage equality charity, ‘Tie the Knot’, a charity founded by Ferguson himself. Since the right to lawfully wed was won in the United States in 2015, the charity is more focused on LGBTQ rights in the US, as well marriage rights across the globe. Impressive indeed!
