Virginia Tech vs. Boston
November 26, 1999 – Blacksburg, Va. A romantic sunset encases the Lane Stadium as November began drawing to close. The Boston College Eagles and Virginia Tech Hokies’ game might have been incredible, but even the greatest performance would struggle to hold anyone’s attention against such a magnificent sky. This is an unusual entry to this list, where nature takes the true award. Athletes will perform under all manner of skies, from fiery cloud formations like this one to miserable downpours.
Santonio Holmes
February 1, 2009 – Super Bowl XLIII. Santonio Holmes, the wide receiver for the Steelers, narrowly ducks under an Arizona Cardinals attacker before diving into a touchdown grab that would secure Pittsburgh’s defeat of the Cardinals with a 27-23 victory. This conclusive playing win was pulled off with less than a minute left on the clock: just 42 seconds. They may be clichéd, but last-minute (or last-minute) wins like these are always the most thrilling and satisfying.
